how to get my iTunes back?

I was trying to burn a playlist from iTunes to a disc. It was all grayed out. So, I decided to upload it to the Cloud --but now I can't fine my iTunes at all. I may have signed up for Apple music awhile ago (a big mistake- I hate it). could that be what prevent me from getting my music (which I've paid for! I own the songs!)

You cannot burn content that is in the cloud or comes via the Apple Music subscription service. You can only use locally stored tracks that were purchased, matched, or uploaded. They should also be able to played, i.e. anything with an exclamation mark indicating a broken reference won't work.
