If you buy iPhone 13 mini unlocked, you can use the same SIM card you use with your existing iPhone. iPhone 13 mini uses the same size SIM card as iPhone 5 and newer. Make sure you only use the same SIM tray that came with your iPhone.

If you purchase your iPhone 13 mini through an Apple Retail Store or through the Apple Online Store and select your carrier at checkout, your iPhone won't come with a SIM card installed. Follow the on-screen instructions during setup to activate your iPhone with an eSIM.

If your iPhone doesn't activate with your carrier at setup, you can use a QR code from your carrier or use your carrier's app from the App Store to activate your eSIM with iPhone 13.
