Printer Password?

Today I wanted to print to one of my two printers. The ink-jet is directly connected by usb and the laser is connected to a Linux box on my home network. The Linux printer wanted a password, the usb-connected one didn't. This has *never* happened before. A password for a local home network printer? I have never set up a password for a printer in my house ... I wouldn't know where to start to do that ... and my wife would shoot me if I did.

Possibly related is that I recently have been getting requests to supply a password for my Google account. Attempts to do so always fail. See my post on "Odd Email Problem".

As always, any help is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Keith

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?
