Safe solution for high speed m1 charging

Both the MacBook Air (M1, 2020), and MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) can charge with up to 61W of power (20.3 V - 3.0 A). The charger included with MacBook Air only charges at 30W, so you can purchase the 61W power adapter from Apple to charge your MacBook Air faster. If you have MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020), the included power adapter is the fastest way to charge that notebook.

Apple only sells USB-C cables that are 2m in length, but you should be able to find 3m cables from other retailers like Amazon or Best Buy.

You can also use the Power Adapter Extension Cable from Apple to extend the length of your power cord. Plug the extention cable into the wall on one end, and the other end into your power adapter, then plug your USB-C cable into your power adapter and MacBook.

The extention cable is 1.8m in length, and the USB-C cables from Apple can be up to 2m in length, for a total of about 3.8m of charging cable.

Your M1 iPad Pro is supplied with a 20W USB-C Power Adapter that supports USB PD Fast Charging. This Power Adapter will charge your iPad at its maximum supported charging rate.

Your M1 iPad Pro was also supplied with a 1m USB-C Charging Cable. This cable can be substituted for longer USB-C cables. Ne aware, however, that USB-C are not created equal; to maximise performance, and avoid potential damage, only use USB-C Certified (preferably MFI Certified) cables - as only these incorporated a protective chip in the USB-C connector.

Also be aware that USB-C cables longer than 2m generally reduce the maximum achievable data rate (which will perhaps explain the limited choice of “long” Certified USB-C cables) - but for charging alone this may not be an issue.

Some Apple Power Adapters have a removable “duck head” AC connection - that can be substituted for an extension AC cable. The stock 20W Power Adapter does not offer this capability - but the Apple 30W and higher rated Power Adapters do offer this feature. A cheaper option is to use a regular AC extension power cable with your stock 20W Power Adapter.
