Siri not working when not on wifi

Since upgrading to IOS 14 (I think), Siri will only work when connected to wifi on my iPhone XR. I've tried several fixes from online, and nothing seems to work. Phone is definitely connected to my carrier's network and other apps etc. work fine when not connected to wifi. Keep getting the same message "Siri not available. Your phone is not connected to the internet." I use Siri most when driving and connected to Apple CarPlay, but won't work anywhere when not connected to wifi. Suggestions?? Thanks.

Yes, lobsterghost1, that is exactly the issue. Siri works fine on wifi, but not on cellular data in the absence of wifi. Again, I mainly want to use it to read and reply to texts while driving and connected to CarPlay. Do you know of any other fixes?

Thanks for the reply Steven_B-27. All I’m wanting to use Siri for is to read my texts while driving and call people while connected to CarPlay. Is that not going to work on iOS 14? It used to work fine. Thanks.

For anyone who might have the same problem, it seems like it was a VPN issue. I deleted a VPN that a data manager was using and Siri worked after that. Hope that helps someone else who can't get any of the other fixes to work. Thanks for the help.

Hi there! Siri doesn’t work on your iPhone if it’s not connected to WiFi. It can only perform certain tasks on your iPhone. Fortunately, iOS 15 will fix this, so keep an eye out for it this fall. Hope this helps!

That's not quite accurate. Siri works with Wifi and with Cellular data in the absence of Wifi. But the phone has to be connected to a cellular network if Wifi is not available. What you are referring to in the upcoming iOS (which BTW, you are violating Apple's policy to discuss here) is intended for Siri to be able to handle more commands in the absence of Wifi or Cellular data. It's not what the OP is referring to.

I just tested to make sure Siri works on Cellular Data and indeed Siri did and does.

Do you have enough Cellular data available?

When you go to Settings > Cellular is Cellular Data turned on?

Dumb question, but you are saying "Hey Siri" right?
