photos from older iMac version 5 will not load on new mac version 6. I sucessfully transfered file from iMac (late 2013) to an external storage disc but new 24 mac will not read because of version difference Help
If you open it in version 6, it should just convert it.
However, you need to make sure your external disc is correctly formatted for a Photos library. It needs to be APFS or MacOS extended (journaled). With the ignore ownership checkbox checked.
