Will family setup work for an Apple Watch series 3?

Will family setup work for an Apple Watch series 3? It says that it has OS7 and I believe that is the OS needed for family sharing..

I would like to set up this watch for my 10 year old to use limited functions - one of which including text to me.

What you need

An Apple Watch Series 4 or later with cellular,* or Apple Watch SE with cellular, with watchOS 7 or later.
An iPhone 6s or later with iOS 14 or later for the initial watch setup.
An Apple ID for yourself and one for the family member who will use the Apple Watch. Your Apple ID needs to have two-factor authentication turned on.
A Family Sharing setup that includes the person who'll use the Apple Watch. You need to have the role of organiser or parent/guardian to set up an Apple Watch for a family member.

Thank you. I’ve seen that list of requirements. I was just questioning the possibility of using a series 3 watch as it has the same operating system... wondered if it was possible. I’m sure they prefer use of series 4 or greater ;)
