I can’t click anything in full screen

When I’m watching on my MacBook on Netflix or something on the internet in full screen, I can’t click anything, pause button on the screen doesn’t work, volume button on the screen doesn’t work, and the minimize full screen doesn’t work unless I press esc first. Is there a way to fix this or change it in settings?
