I have loads of favourite bookmarks. The bookmarks bar at the top of Safari, just underneath the address field, can show about half of them if I shorten the text.
Is there any way of making this bar bigger, in other words doubling or tripling the size vertically? I would lose some browser size vertically but it`s not an issue.
Does a third party app maybe exist?

However, a user can create a new folder by control clicking in the Favorites bar,
choosing "New Folder and adding many bookmarks to it.
Drop down will show icon and text.

Sure, thanks, but that`s my reading list and I still have to scroll down the list. I just want the option of more real estate at the top instead of clicking on the arrow on the right and the scrolling down another list.
Indeed, well that pretty much answers the question thank you. I hope some developer adds the option one day.
You could select Safari > View > Show Sidebar. It will show a left sidebar where you can choose either your bookmarks or reading list.
