Today I began receiving frequent pop-ups asking if I wanted to download "as.jivox.com". The pop-up typically occurs after clicking on MSN stories that feature video. Is this a virus scam, or just a nuisance?

It's something like adware. Do you have any Safari extensions to block ads? If not go Safari't Extensions preference pane and click on More Extensions in the lower right hand corner of the window.
FWIW I use the free Ghostery Lite and am happy with it. There are many out there, many free.

It is a digital advertising platform. I visited the site.
May be it has to do with MSN or an ad associated with MSN.
I ran an EtreCheck and found nothing suspicious.
