Using Safari only, visit How to get old versions of macOS, and determine your MacBookAir hardware compatibility with Catalina, and if it is, there is a link to Catalina 10.15.7 in the Mac App Store.

Because Catalina only supports 64-bit applications, you should check which 32-bit software you have installed now by running the free Go64 application. You should also verify with your printer/scanner and third-party software vendors that they offer product support on Catalina.

Before you upgrade to Catalina, ensure that you make one last Time Machine backup.
