Admin Priviliges lost after Bug Sur Upgrade

I upgraded a 2018 Mac Book Air to Big Sur 11.1 yesterday from Catalina. Everything appeared fine. The user password works fine for login. HOWEVER .. even though the main user account shows as being an Admin account, the password will not open any protected window in preferences, keychain, etc.

So even though the user ID displayed in Preferences show's Admin, the Admin password does not work.

Is there a possible fix for this? Do I need to restore 10.15.7 and start over again? It appears something went wrong during the upgrade.
