Automatic Updates

Why doesn’t my phone automatically install an iOS update the night it comes out? I have automatic updates turned on as well and my phone is charged and connected to WiFi. Yet, everytime an update comes out I find myself manually having to download and install an update.

Question3s,

Thanks for providing those additional details.

Going forward, by chance do you have Low Power Mode enabled in Settings > Battery? Some features, such as automatic downloads, will not complete when Low Power Mode is turned on. Check out this link here for more details on what features are affected when Low Power Mode is enabled: Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone

If you don't have Low Power Mode enabled, then based on the information provided, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly at this link here: Get Support - Apple

From that link you'll want to choose, iPhone > Update, Backup & Restore > Updating iOS. From there you should see a few options to reach out, depending on your location.

Take care!

Hi there Question3s,

Thanks for contacting the Apple Support Communities today! We understand you're having issues with your iPhone not installing iOS updates automatically, and we'd be happy to help!

Just to confirm, in Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates, is both Download and Install iOS Updates enabled here? If you do, has this issue occurred with all iOS updates, or only certain updates?

We ask as not all updates will be installed automatically. You can find this, and more details in the following link under, "Customize Automatic Updates": Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If this occurs with all iOS updates, do you receive any error messages when you notice that the update didn't download or install?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Have a great day!
