How do I turn off two factor authentication
If you turned it on more than two weeks ago, or if it was turned on by default on a new device, you cannot turn it off.
If you turned it on less than two weeks ago the confirmation email contains a link to turn it off.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
If you want to, you can send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

I do not like this policy because when I move back to North America from Israel and I do not remember to put my new phone number in I will not be able to access my accounts.
