I’m trying do update and it’s saying I need to be connected to internet but I am connected so my phone is not getting cellular data

are you connected to WiFi? You cannot do an iOS update using cellular data.
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If your cellular data is not working for other stuff.. see if this helps
