what are the big boxes at the bottom of each page and how do you get rid of them?
What are the big 3 boxes at the bottom of each page and how do you get rid of them? They are making my pages too short despite .5 margin.

By default, Pages has header and footer enabled. You can disable both, or either in the Documents panel, and control their distance from top or bottom of the document.
