Assuming you don’t house your messages in iCloud, they are saved on your iPhone backup. Restore that backup to retrieve the messages that were present when the backup was created.

Recover Deleted Texts
If iCloud is set to ON for text messages and you deleted some text messages then they are gone from iCloud so cannot retrieved!
If you do not use iCloud for text messages then you can restore your iPhone from a backup on your iCloud account (if you use iCloud to back up your iPhone). Once you restore then your texts will only be as current as when the back up was created. Here is ➔ How to restore your iPhone from an iCloud back up.
The other option is to restore your iPhone from a backup that you may have created on your computer. Once again, if you restore your iPhone from a computer back up then your texts will only be as current as the day and time the backup was created.

to expand on the posts from sberman and Axel..
go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and check if the switch is turned on for Messages.
If that switch is on, your messages are gone as indicated.
If that switch is off, follow the restore suggestions (assuming you have a backup that contains the deleted texts)
Oh yes, I was wondering Chris, why aren't the weekly points in the 1000's as they used to be? Ha! Is it the "Apple Recommended" that was making the difference? I believe it will take forever to move up without those. No?
