updating to iOS 14 on 6+ iPhone

I have an iPhone 6 with software version 12.4.8 and it states it is current. how do I get the phone to update to iOS 14?

iOS 14 only works for the iPhone 6s and above. You are currently using the latest iOS that the iPhone 6 supports.
