Is there a way to upload photos right from my iPhone to my Windows 10 computer. The windows photo app always has trouble. I would like to just open a browser and copy them.

You can’t just open a browser and copy them, because they are leaf nodes in a database. If you don’t want to use iCloud then using a cable and the Windows photo app is the only option, short of finding a 3rd party app that might be able to do it such as TouchCopy or iMazing.
Why do I have to put photos in iCloud to get them to my computer?
