iTunes Match vs Apple Music

I’m a long time subscriber of iTunes Match. After a couple months, I also recently ended my subscription to Apple Music. I received a email from Apple that I will lose my music, playlists, and settings if I don’t renew Apple Music. Since I still have iTunes Match, is this true?

You will certainly lose any music that you LEASED with an Apple Music subscription, but anything you had with iTunes Match before you subscribed to Apple Music should be intact. Make a backup just to be sure. Also see the reply to:
