imovie first time user

have some very basic questions ... if anyone can help out I would greatly appreciate it.

i have a few home videos of special occasions that are on DVD.

i am able to create individual mp4 files for each chapter stored within each VOD file on the disc using my own means in Windows10.

i want to use iMovie to combine all of these mp4's into a single movie with a 3-5 second fade between each chapter, and perhaps add some title text at the beginning of each chapter.

can anyone post a guide or link to a guide for basic/first time users, or perhaps an in-depth detailed guide that I can check out ?

i want the end product to be a single mp4 file of the same quality of the source files (NTSC DVD).
