Transfer of Gopro files to MacBook Pro

Hi,

Please excuse my ignorance but I'm brand new to Macs. I have a Gopro hero 6 black and I'm looking to transfer media files from it to my new MacBook Pro. Without USB ports or a slot for a micro sd card how is this possible? I can transfer the files to my iPad wirelessly but can I do this with my MacBook. I'm sorry but I'm a bit of a technophobe so please be kind with your replies and treat me as such.

Regards, Dave

No the camera nor the media files are visible on the image capture window. I appreciate that I can buy an adapter to read the micro sd but it seems incredible that I’ve just spent £1800 on a MacBook Pro that is meant to be excellent for photo/video editing that doesn’t come with an easy means of accessing the files from either a GoPro or DSLR type camera. Why do I need to bolt things on to the MacBook? I can transfer files wirelessly to my iPad or phone yet not the computer..........madness. I am returning the laptop tomorrow.

When the Mac sees the GoPro signal, can you see the files on the GoPro by using Image Capture--part of OSX--on the MacBook Pro?

There are also adapters that allow you to connect a USB 2 or USB 3 cable to the USB-C ports on the MacBook Pro:

Through the GoPro wifi. You select the GoPro as your iPad wifi network and then go to the GoPro App (which isn't available for the MacBook Pro) where you connect the camera to the iPad and start to transfer files. Very easy. On the MacBook you can see the GoPro wifi network but selecting it doesn't mean I can transfer files as far as I can see.
