When I buy my Apple Watch serise 5 (44mm) on friday can I choose a watch band that fits my Apple Watch series 1 (42mm) instead? I have a band for it already and would like a new strap for my series 1 for my wife to use.

Any 44mm band will fit a 42mm Watch. Apple doesn't sell 42mm bands anymore. If your Apple Store has the Watch Studio option you will be able to choose which band you want.

think the box already contain the band as in a model with a band as a sealed unit but can't hurt to try asking I suppose
