Check the Mute switch above the volume buttons. It should be towards the screen.
Check the volume buttons.
Go to Settings/Do Not Disturb and verify that it is off, and that there is no scheduled DnD that might be causing it.
Another way to check DND is to show the Control Center (drag down from the top right corner of the screen). If DND is enabled you will see a crescent moon in the status bar.
