IPad air 2 won't charge

iPad Air 2 won't charge and has now run out of battery. I tried all the suggestions to reboot, new cable, cleaning port. When still working it would show the sign to insert charging cable and when inserted did not show a charge signal. Please advise.

Sorry, I assumed. Mine was purchased in 2014 when it was released. In any event, you should still take it to an Apple Store for testing.

I am a little confused as to what you mean by the showing the sign to insert the charging cable. Can you explain that? Maybe I’m missing something.
