Night shift is not working

I noticed that the screen on my $4700 MacBook Pro has a yellow tint. I remember I turned off night shift, but went to check it and found that it does not work at all. Whatever option I choose - "Custom", "Sunset to Sunrise", nothing changes and then I move "Color Temperature" slider nothing changes. I believe my screen is in permanent Night Shift mode, because it looks warm, but I cannot confirm this because I see that "Night Shift" settings do not affect the screen at all.

I followed an advice from this post - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250724973


When I switched to another user and tried to change the night shift - it worked. Furthermore - when I switched back and tried might shift in my account it started to work. Not sure what is causing this behavior, thought.
