Unable to redownload app

My Snapchat was acting up on my iPod so I decided to delete the app as this usually fixes the problem, however when I went to reinstall it, it will not allow me to install it as it says incompatible with this iPod. I have not done any software updates so is there anyway of fixing this problem?
