Have I really lost all of the photos I have in iPhoto because I updated my OS and it is a 32 bit app and the new 64 bit?

I updated my OS now I cannot open iPhoto because it is a 32 bit app. Is there anything I can do to recover all of my photos?

Launch Photos with the Option key held down, click on Other Library, and choose the iPhoto one.
