Microsoft Office - App Store

What is the best way of deleting Microsoft Office (downloaded originally from Microsoft website) from MacBook Pro and to redownload from App Store. Is this worth it do in the first place? Do any files change based on downloading an Office App rather than from the website.

Thank You

How to remove MS office depends a bit on the version you have. What Microsoft office version do you have?

Also, what are you hoping to accomplish? Why do you want to do this?

The versions from the App Store will require you have an active Office 365 subscription to be able to use them.

It looks like I have version 16.26 shown in my excel preferences. I do already have an office 365 subscription.

Reason to do this was just figured it would be better to have the apps installed rather than a file from Microsoft. Updates are through the App Store, etc. Is there any benefit I guess will then be my next question. Any differences?

Thank You!

The 365 versions would give you continued updates for as long as you are subscribed, and will continue to be usable in the future.

The stand alone versions, would eventually stop getting updates and eventually stop working all together.

The 16.26 version I believe belongs to the 2019 stand alone version of Microsoft Office, which is the current one, and would continue to be supported for the foreseeable future however.

However, by using the 365 versions from the App Store, you are essentially negating whatever you paid for the 2019 stand alone version. I other words, by paying for the subscription and the 2019 version, you are essentially paying for the same thing twice, and choosing not to use one.
