I cannot remember my passcode to my old iPhone

I cannot remember my passcode to my old iPhone and it will not allow me to change it or anything, what can I do?

If you have forgotten your passcode to the iPhone it is going to have to be restored.

for future reference there is a setting that will auto wipe your phone should you fail the passcode too many times. Just to help avoid this in the future. You can find it in settings Touch ID and passcode (or Face ID if you have a X Xs or Xr) labled erase data.
